Artwork That Reflects Me

This piece of artwork I would say reflects me the most because I love abstract art.  I loved this project because it's so simple to do yet looks so different and unique.  This project turned out so good and it looks so cool.  I absolutely love it. I also like the glaze colors I chose to use. The mocha marble turned out amazing and it looks earthy. That's the look I was going for.

Biggest Challenge

This project was definitely my biggest challenge. I had a hard time forming the eyes and eyebrow bones. I think it was because I wasn't given much clay to work with and it was very challenging making small coils. Once I got the hang of things I was able to do my lips and nose without a problem. Now that I understand how to do I could do it over again and it could probably look a little bit better than it does now. I didn't think this project was going to be hard but it was honestly the hardest project to do. It turned out okay but knowing the struggles I had with it, I'm happy with the way it turned out.

Helped Me Improve the Most

This project helped me improve the most because it invoked using many different and new techniques I didn't know how to use before.  I had a hard time shaping the body of the vase into a circle and it was time consuming smoothing it all out. I hand-made the feathers on the vase because I wanted them to be 3-D and have a textured affect. At first, I didn't think I would be able to complete this project and make it look good at the same time. In the end it turned out better than what I ever expected it to be.

Favorite artwork

This piece is my favorite piece I have made because it looks the most realistic out of everything I have made so far.  It has the most texture and actually looks like a real piece of cake.  I tried different techniques and I didn't really know how it would turn out in the end.  I used a pin tool and scratched the back of the cake to make it look like graham cracker crust.  For the sides of the cake I used a toothbrush to give it a rough texture.  Painting the strawberries was probably the hardest part because its hard to separate the white paint from the red paint.  I had to repaint the white several of times.  I was very proud of this piece after I was complete because it looked so realistic and I got many compliments on it.
